Pinch Pot Creature Critique

The most successful parts of my pinch pot are the glazing of it, the texture, the detail, and the colors.  When glazing it, I decided to use neon sprinkles colors ont he unicorn's hair, which turned out pretty cool.  I think I did a very good job on smoothing it out and creating the actual structure of it.  It is able to stand up by itself, it has a cute little horn, mane, and tail, and I like how the colors complimet eaach other.  These parts of my pinch pot made me very proud of it.

It was challenging to add the extra parts onto the unicorn, and it was hard creating the right size pinch pot.  I had to restart a few times because it was too big or too think, but I eventually got it.  Also, when it came to slipping and scoring, getting the accessories of the unicorn to stay took some work.  The legs were hard to make parallel and symmetric to each other too.  The back legs aren't really lined up properly to thefront legs because they kind of stick out to left, but it isn't super noticeable.

In the upcoming projects I do, I will focusmore on detail and structural design so i don't have to start over after I've made significant progress.  I will also make sure to smooth everything out really well because it really pays off to have a smooth-looking piece, instead of a rough project that cuts you when you touch certain parts.

On the project requirements, I think I should receive a 5/5.  I managed to use my skills to create a mystical creature, and I think I went above and beyond.

For craftsmanship, I give myself a 4/5 because the fact that the legs are unproportional kind of bothers me.  It may not be noticebale to people who look at it, but that's the first thing I see whenever I look at it.

As for creativity, I will give myself a 5/5 because of what I decided to do.  I could have just made an ordinary horse or put the pinch pot part as the mouth like a lot of other people did.  

I will give myself a 5/5 for studio participation.  I was always on time to class and doing what I was supposed to do.

My composition elements and principles grade will be a 4/5 because although I executed my planning mostly correctly, I could have taken a little more time to plan out my pinch pot.  I changed animals 3 times, so I will be more precise next time on my future projects.

Name Tile Critique

The most successful part about my name tile is probably the color scheme and the way I slipped and scored.  I went for an autumn look cinsidering fall has just begun.  The background is meant to be a tree trunk, and the letters are green leaves, while the other leaves are fall colors.  Fortunately, I slip and scored well enough so that none of the letters became loose or fell off.  Since I used most of the techniques correctly, I am satisfied with my tile.

I think the most challenging parts of this project were creating the slab, cutting out the letters, and glazing.  When I went to cut out the slab and put the background on it, I kind of smushed some parts so I had to redo it.  My name is six letters long so it was quite a tedious job to cut out each part of the letters.  I think I could have taken more time to glaze it too.  Some parts of the leaves aren't colored in, while other areas of the tile are colored in leaf colors, but there are no leaves there.  Overall, it was a time-consuming project, and not the easiest.

In the next projects I make, I will definitely take more time planning each step with care, instead of just going with the flow.  I will also make sure that I know what I am doing and follow the guide exactly as it is written.  Slipping and scoring is also another aspect which I will take great care in when making other projects.

My requirements grade would probably be a 4/5 because I would like to think that I properly executed each step in the process and did everything I had to, but it could have used a little extra.

As for craftsmanship, my grade should be a 5/5 because there is nothing majorly wrong with the tile, and it displays good technique as well as a balance of skills.

For creativity, I would give myself a 5/5 becaus eno one else in the class did anything close to what mine is like.  I tried to think outside the box and successfully made my project what I wanted it to look like.

My studio participation would be 5/5 as well because every time I came to class, I was prepared and on task.  Whatever I had to do to finish, I did it and did it pretty quickly, but with care.

The composition elements and principles part of my project should receive a 4/5.  I planned out my tile's design and background well, but it could have been better executed.
